Ian Wright has said on Match of the Day on BBC One that Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur struggled to contain Arsenal defender Ben White in the North London derby at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Arsenal got the better of Tottenham 3-1 at home in the Premier League.

England international defender White provided the assist for Thomas Partey’s goal in the 20th minute.

The former Leeds United loanee is a centre-back by trade, but he played at right-back against Tottenham in the North London derby.

Just like he has been playing this season.

While analysing White’s performance in the North London derby, Arsenal legend Wright pointed out how often the 24-year-old was running down the right flank and helping out in attack.

The defender gave two key passes.

Wright said: “The person that picked my eyes more than anyone else today in the way that they were playing was Ben White. I thought he was magnificent today. Tottenham gave him a lot of space.”

Impressive performance

In our opinion, Arsenal defender Ben White was one of the best players on the pitch at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

As Wright rightly notes, Tottenham gave the former Leeds loanee too much space and could not cope with his runs and intelligent movements.

White is a centre-back by trade, but the way he has been playing at right-back this season has been simply brilliant.
