Marko Arnautovic joined West Ham United in the summer of 2017.

Ian Wright has told The Sun that Marko Arnautovic will be West Ham United’s key player in their quest to avoid relegation to the Championship at the end of the season.

The former Arsenal and West Ham striker seems to rate the 28-year-old, who can operate as a forward or as a winger, highly.

Wright told The Sun: “I think Marko Arnautovic holds the key to the Irons’ survival. On his day he can lead the attack, put fear into defenders and hit the goals that will see West Ham pick up vital points.”

Key player

Arnautovic joined West Ham from Premier League rivals Stoke City in the summer of 2017.

The Austria international attacker has not always performed well, but on his day, he can be devastating.

The 28-year-old has scored seven goals and provided three assists in 19 Premier League starts for the Hammers so far this season.

For West Ham to avoid the drop to the Championship, they need Arnautovic to be on top of his game and to be consistent.

The Hammers have some superb footballers, such as Arnautovic and Manuel Lanzini, but the London club still find themselves in a precarious position at the momen.
