Ian Wright has spoken highly of Arsenal central defender David Luiz on his own YouTube channel.
The Arsenal legend made the comments about Luiz in the wake of the Gunners signing Willian on a free transfer following his departure from Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Wright is pleased to see another winner in Willian join the Gunners, and he has also hailed his Brazilian compatriot Luiz, who can play in midfield as well.
Wright said on his own YouTube channel, as transcribed by The Mirror: “He [Willian] creates chances and scores goals and that’s what we need. There’s that Brazilian connection and getting a player like Willian has got to be good for our young players because he’s a winner. The more winners we can get in there the better.
“David Luiz is a winner. I don’t care what anyone says, I will always come out and back David Luiz whatever happens because I know his heart is in the right place and he wants to do the right thing for our club.
”I think he will transfer that into Willian and Willian will start feeling what we’re about. That’s only going to help Gabriel Martinelli, to have two experienced compatriots and Brazilian team-mates that he’s being involved with. I look at it from a playing point of view and it’s win-win for me.”

Serial winner
Luiz has been criticised from time to time by pundits and fans alike this past season, and there will always be doubt on the 33-year-old given the mistakes he makes.
However, there is no doubt that the 33-year-old has a winning mentality and is a serial winner.
The Brazil international won the Portuguese league title with Benfica, the Premier League, the FA Cup, the Champions League and the Europa League with Chelsea, and the Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain.
Luiz also played his role in Arsenal winning the FA Cup this past season, and he will be an important player in head coach Mikel Arteta’s side in 2020-21.
