The Liverpool ace is closing in on a return from injury.

Ian Wright looks on prior to the Barclays Premier League match between West Ham United and Manchester City at Boleyn Ground on October 25, 2014 in London, England.

Ian Wright suggested that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s impending return will be unbelievably helpful for Liverpool, when speaking during a guest appearance on Sky Sports’ The Debate last night.

The 25-year-old has not played for the Reds all season, since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in the Champions League semi-final first leg against Roma last April, and Jürgen Klopp’s side have really missed the Englishman’s drive and energy in midfield.

Liverpool currently sit two points clear at the top of the Premier League table, and with just seven games remaining this season, having someone like Oxlade-Chamberlain back and available for selection will undoubtedly be a huge boost for the Merseyside outfit.

That is Wright’s opinion, anyway.

The Arsenal legend suggested that the Ox will give Liverpool an entirely new dynamic when he returns to action, when speaking during a guest appearance on Sky Sports’ The Debate last night:

“It can be unbelievably helpful [having a fresh player come in at this point of season]. He’s somebody that will be like a new signing at this stage of the season, giving Liverpool from the midfield a kind of dynamic that they’ve not had, for me, all season.

The Liverpool ace has now returned to training and made his comeback in the Under-23 match against Derby earlier this month.

Whether he will be ready to feature for the Reds against Tottenham on Sunday, however, remains to be seen.
