Ian Wright said on Match of the Day on BBC One (10:38pm, November 21, 2020) that Tottenham Hotspur are contenders for the Premier League title this season.
The Arsenal legend made the comments following Tottenham’s 2-0 win against Manchester City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in league on Saturday evening.
Son Heung-min put Spurs in the lead after just five minutes, and Giovani Lo Celso added a second in the 65th minute.
The win means that Spurs are now at the top of the Premier League table with 20 points from nine matches.
Wright said on Match of the Day on BBC One (10:38pm, November 21, 2020) when asked if Tottenham are title contenders: “Yeah, looking at that, especially if teams are going to give them that much space, they are going to hurt people.”
Premier League title challenge
Tottenham would have started the season aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table and getting back into the Champions League places.
However, it is looking increasingly likely that Tottenham will challenge for the league title.
Of course, it is only November and there is a long way to go, but with a serial winner in Jose Mourinho in charge, anything is possible for the North London club.
What Spurs need to do is maintain their good run of form and continue to win matches through December and into the New Year.
