It has been reported that Arsenal have rejected Aston Villa’s attempt to sign Emile Smith Rowe.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal have turned down a £25 million bid from the Villans.
Smith Rowe is one of the Gunners’ most exciting young players and it’ll take a lot more than £25 million to prise him from North London.
Here’s how Ian Wright reacted to David Ornstein’s tweet about the story on social media:
No worries
Arsenal fans shouldn’t worry about losing Smith Rowe.
The 20-year-old has only had six months as a first-team regular and he’ll be hungry for a lot more next season.
It’s no secret that Villa pipped Arsenal to the signing of Emiliano Buendia already this summer, but the Emirates Stadium side are a bigger club than those in the West Midlands and you could argue that joining Dean Smith’s outfit would represent a step down.
Arsenal were dreadful in the Premier League last term and could only muster an eighth-placed finish.
But long term, they’ll have their eyes on Champions League qualification and Smith Rowe, who came through their academy, is going to want to be apart of Mikel Arteta’s project in North London.
