Ian Wright has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Aston Villa star Jack Grealish being called up to the England squad.
The FA have announced on their official website that Villa star Grealish has been called up to the England squad for their forthcoming UEFA Nations League games.
England head coach Gareth Southgate has decided to include the attacking midfielder in his team for upcoming matches against Iceland and Denmark.
This is the first time that the 24-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, has been selected for the England senior side.
Former Arsenal and England international striker Wright is delighted with the announcement, as his post on Twitter below shows.
Deserved call-up
Grealish is one of the better attacking players in the Premier League and was brilliant for Villa last season.
True, the Villans just about managed to stave off the dreaded drop to the Championship, but the 24-year-old played an important role in that success.
The attacking midfielder was also instrumental in Dean Smith’s side getting promoted from the Championship at the end of the 2018-19 season.
According to WhoScored, Grealish scored eight goals and provided six assists in 36 Premier League games for Vllla last season, while during the 2018-19 campaign, he scored six goals and provided seven assists in 34 Championship matches for the Villans.
