Ian Wright has expressed his disappointment that Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish has not made the England squad.
Grealish was expected to be called up for England’s game, after enjoying a fine season with Villa, which culminated in him saving them from relegation.
However, the playmaker has once again been overlooked by his country.
While Kalvin Phillips, Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood were given their first senior call-ups, Grealish missed out again.
And Wright could not help but feel sorry for the Villa talisman.
Grealish provided eight goals and claimed six assists for Villa last term, so his latest omission does seem harsh.
However, Grealish’s form did dip slightly after the Premier League restart and that may be part of the reason why Gareth Southgate overlooked him.
Grealish’s future is set to be heavily speculated again this summer, with Villa facing a fight to keep hold of their star man.
