Everton beat Cardiff City 1-0 at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

BT Sport pundit Ian Wright looks on prior to the Emirates FA Cup Semi-Final match between Arsenal and Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on April 23, 2017 in London, England.

Pundit Ian Wright has told Match of the Day that he thinks Everton midfielders Andre Gomes and Idrissa Gueye are ‘very impressive’, praising them for helping Gylfi Sigurdsson thrive.

Everton claimed another win on Saturday afternoon as they scraped past Cardiff City with a 1-0 home victory, as Sigurdsson pounced for the only goal of the game in the second half.

It’s now five wins in seven games for Everton as they continue to make strides under Marco Silva, with many of the club’s summer signings thriving early on at Goodison Park.

Lucas Digne has been excellent at left back, Kurt Zouma was impressing at centre back before being replaced by fellow new boy Yerry Mina, whilst Bernard and Richarlison have added some flair in the final third.

Right now, Everton fans are currently lauding loanee Gomes, with the Barcelona midfielder turning in a superb performance against Cardiff to leave supporters begging for a permanent deal.

Gomes is only at Everton for the season, but his partnership with Idrissa Gueye in the heart of midfield has been exceptional, and has now earned praise from pundit Ian Wright.

Wright has suggested that the duo are ‘very impressive’, and credited them with Sigurdsson’s fine form, suggesting it’s no surprise that he is excelling when he has two superb midfielders behind him.

“They’re building a bit of a fortress there at Goodison, only lost one of the last 10,” said Wright. “In Andre Gomes and Idrissa Gana, they’re doing really well. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that someone like Gylfi Sigurdsson is playing so well with them two behind him, because they’re very impressive,” he added.
