The Reds have signed four new players in the summer, but Wright believes they should have bolstered their defence.
Wright says that Liverpool are an entertaining team to watch going forward, but defensively they continue to make laughable mistakes.
Liverpool have conceded 94 goals in 75 Premier League games since Klopp took charge at the club. The Reds tried to sign Virgil van Dijk in the summer, but they didn’t go for other alternatives after missing out on him.
Jurgen Klopp recently said that he could write a book on defending in two hours. Wright says that he is not a defensive coach but even he can spot the mistakes.
Wright has further questioned Liverpool’s use of Andy Robertson this season. The 23-year-old left-back joined from Hull City this summer, and has duly impressed.
However, he has made only two Premier League appearances so far, with Klopp putting trust on the error-prone Alberto Moreno instead.
Wright questioned “was he not Klopp’s buy?”, and said it is bizarre that Robertson has been overlooked when other players are dropping clangers at every single game.
“Liverpool have also had huge problems at left-back but in Andy Robertson they have a man who can do the job, yet he has hardly played,” wrote Wright in his column for The Sun.
“What is that supposed to tell us? Was he not Klopp’s buy? It’s bizarre that he’s not getting a look in when they are dropping clangers at the back in every game they play.
“It is happening so often that, of course, people are losing patience and Klopp is showing another side to his character as well.”
