Former Arsenal striker Wright has backed Pep Guardiola’s side to pick up all three points from the match against Jurgen Klopp’s team courtesy of a 3-2 win.
The former England international striker has also backed City attacker Raheem Sterling to open the scoring at Anfield.
Sterling, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, joined City from Liverpool in the summer of 2015 for an initial transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £44 million.
Liverpool fans were not happy with the way the 23-year-old left the Reds for the Citizens, and one suspects that they will not be pleased if Wright’s prediction comes true and he scores the opening goal in the Premier League game on Sunday evening.
Wright wrote in The Sun: “We have two very attack-minded teams with fragile defences too so you have to say this scoreline could be anything but I’m going to go for 3-2 to City at 16/1.”
“City have plenty of attractive options when it comes to first goalscorer but I fancy Raheem Sterling to carry on his rich vein of form and bag the opener at 13/2,” added Wright.
