Aston Villa could only draw 0-0 with Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
Pundit Ian Wright has told Sky Sports’ The Debate that he is worried about Aston Villa and manager Steve Bruce.
Villa only drew 0-0 with Middlesbrough on Tuesday night, despite the fact that Boro had former Villa winger Adama Traore sent off just four minutes into the game.
Villa attempted to win the game, with Robert Snodgrass contriving to hit the crossbar from yards out before Henri Lansbury was sent off for Villa, and the frustration only mounted when Conor Hourihane’s goalbound shot hit team-mate Scott Hogan on the line.
It’s now two 0-0 home draws in a row for Villa following the weekend stalemate with Brentford, and the pressure is somewhat mounting on manager Steve Bruce.
Bruce was given the funds to bring in the likes of John Terry, Ahmed Elmohamady, Glenn Whelan and Robert Snodgrass over the summer, adding considerable Premier League experience to a squad which had been invested in so heavily last season.
Initially one of the favourites for promotion to the Premier League, Villa have struggled so far this term, and have picked up just seven points from seven games.
Bruce hasn’t quite had the desired impact since becoming Villa boss back in October 2016, and pundit Ian Wright is now worried about Villa and manager Bruce.
Pundit Ian Wright has told Sky Sports’ The Debate that Bruce must have the squad he wants now, and with results still not improving, Wright predicts that Villa fans will start calling for Bruce’s head soon.
“They’re quite worrying,” said Wright. “I think the Villa fans should be quite worried. Looking at Villa and everything that Steve Bruce is trying to do, because I believe it’s got to be close to the team that he wants, I don’t think it’s working out as well as he’d like it to, and I think that the fans there are going to start to get a bit restless, if something doesn’t change quick,” he added.
