Ryan Fraser got the only goal for Scotland as they beat the Czech Republic 1-0 at Hampden Park last night.

Steve Clarke’s side are now unbeaten in eight games ahead of their crucial Euro 2021 qualifier against Serbia next month.

The Scots were without some key men, including Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney, but Fraser stepped up to the plate and caught the eye.

He earned praise from Ian Wright on ITV’s Nations League Highlights show, at 12:26am, 15/10, who said Fraser was a real menace throughout the game.

“When he gets in there like that… Fraser, we know he can do this kind of thing, with Callum [Wilson] at Bournemouth,” said Wright of Fraser’s winning goal.

“Fraser, getting in there, he looked like a real handful today. What’s good about Scotland is they’re well-coached under Steve Clarke.

“You can see how happy they are, they’ve got momentum.”

Fraser is yet to show his full capabilities at Newcastle, but a successful international break should boost his confidence, as well as allowing him to build his fitness.

That can only bode well for Newcastle, as they gear up to take on Manchester United on Saturday night.

While Fraser was having a great night, their skipper Harry Maguire got a first half red card in England’s 1-0 loss to Denmark.

That should have Fraser looking to carry on his international form and take full advantage of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s leaky backline this weekend.
