Arsenal may have backed away from the European Super League plans, but this isn’t over. Not by a long stretch.
The Gunners had only just managed to scrape a draw against Fulham on Sunday afternoon when rumours about the Super League proposal broke.
Later that night, Arsenal confirmed they were joining five other Premier League clubs in forming the Super League, which was met with absolute fury.
Heading off to play in a closed-off league where huge finances are only available to a select few with no promotion or relegation is completely anti-competition, and not what fans, pundits and even players want.
This isn’t what people expected from Arsenal, one of the pillars of English football, but owner Stan Kroenke was pushing for what can only be described as franchise football.
Well, the plans are dead now; Arsenal confirmed on Tuesday night that they are pulling out of the proposal, just as the other English sides are.

Yet don’t expect everybody to just forgive and forget. Fans are still angry, feeling betrayed as their beloved club attempted a cash grab in the midst of a global pandemic.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has been vocal, and he continued on Tuesday night, tweeting ‘Remember who you are, what you are and who you represent!’ as the club released a statement confirming their departure from the ESL.
Wright didn’t stop there, twice tweeting the Kroenke Out hashtag as he joined Arsenal fans in demanding that the American sells up and gets out of the club, never to come back after such a controversial decision.
