The 27-year-old swapped Tottenham Hotspur for West Bromwich Albion in the summer.
Ian Wright has told The Sun that he was happy to see Nacer Chadli leave Tottenham Hotspur, but admitted he was surprised to see him join West Bromwich Albion.
The Belgium winger put in a Man of the Match winning performance on Saturday to help West Brom beat West Ham United 4-2 at The Hawthorns.
The former Spurs man scored twice – including one from the penalty spot – in an overall performance which has suggested that he is determined to succeed in the Premier League, following a mixed three years at Tottenham.
The 27-year-old, signed by Andre Villas-Boas in 2013, started just 10 Premier League games under Lilywhites boss Mauricio Pochettino last term, though his 11 league goals in the 2014-15 campaign suggested he certainly had ability.
And although Arsenal legend Wright has pleased to see him quit Tottenham, the ex-striker was surprised he joined up with Tony Pulis’s Baggies in the West Midlands.
Wright told The Sun: “Nacer Chadli, for Spurs, was one of those players who did need to move. I’m pleased to see someone like that move on, because he is a good midfielder who can score goals. [I’m a] Bit surprised he went to West Brom because they’re not the most attractive team to go and play for.”
It was reported by The Express and Star that Pulis spent £13 million on making him Albion’s most expensive signing of all time. If he continues to score goals then it will certainly go down as money well spent.
