Arsenal legend Ian Wright spoke to Stadium Astro about the Premier League Hall of Fame.

Wright, one of the best players to play in the Premier League himself, is a strong contender to make it into the Hall of Fame eventually, but there is a big debate over who should be inducted first.

If it was up to Arsenal fans, Thierry Henry would be the first one in. Wright, however, has two other names ahead of the Gunners’ record goalscorer.

He said: “I’d probably put in Alan Shearer and Ryan Giggs. I’d probably go with those two because Alan Shearer, 260 goals, will it ever be beaten? It’s going to take some unbelievable goalscorer to do it.

“And then you look at Ryan Giggs, 13 Premier League titles. Someone like Thierry (Henry) will probably be next, only because of the unbelievable achievements of those two players that I’ve just mentioned.”

It is hard to argue with either of Shearer or Giggs’ achievements over the years. Those two records might never be broken but Henry definitely was one of a kind in the Premier League.

The Frenchman scored 176 goals and provided 77 assists in the Premier League in 258 games. Henry achieved that feat as a foreign player in just eight seasons which is an incredible record.

Shearer, on the other hand, scored 84 goals more than Henry while playing 183 games more. If the two played the same number of games, it is likely that Henry would have scored more goals than his English counterpart.

However, Shearer achieved that while playing for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United. The Englishman had it a lot more difficult than Henry which would potentially help him win the argument.

Either way, Giggs, Shearer and Henry are all more than worthy of being inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame and all three of them will make it there sooner or later.
