Arsenal legend Ian Wright has singled out summer signing Shkodran Mustafi as a key figure behind his former club’s impressive run of form, when speaking to the BBC’s Radio Five Live phone-in show.
The 24-year-old German has made seven appearances for his new club since his £35 million move from Valencia in August, and his performances have drawn high praise from fans and pundits alike.
He oozes composure, whilst seemingly possessing the grit and determination that the Gunners have so desperately missed in recent years.

Wright was speaking on BBC’S Radio Five Live on Sunday October 16th (15 minutes 22 seconds into the recording), and discussed the impact Mustafi has had on the Arsenal side since his arrival:
“Mustafi has been very impressive since he’s come. He’s done very well since he’s come in and really strengthened up the defence. Him and Koscielny look like a real good partnership.”
Arsene Wenger’s men currently sit second in the Premier League table, with only goal difference separating them and league leaders Manchester City.

The real test for the North Londoners will be during the month of November, however, when they face back-to-back league games against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United respectively.
Next up for the Gunners is a home Champions League tie against Bulgarian side Ludogorets tomorrow night, and a win will set them up nicely as they look to ease into the qualifying stages of the competition.
