Gunners legend Ian Wright has said one signing would make Arsenal even better despite the club ending their 14-year wait to win a Premier League away game against Manchester United at the weekend.
The Gunners were excellent at Old Trafford on Sunday, individually and as a team, and thoroughly deserved three points.
Summer signing Thomas Partey was the main man for Arsenal. The Ghanaian barely put a foot wrong and was rightly named man of the match.
Many fans and pundits have been raving about Partey. Some are even claiming he’s the best signing of the summer. However, he wasn’t the only midfielder Arsenal were looking at during the transfer window.
Lyon’s Houssem Aouar was reportedly Mikel Arteta’s top target. The Frenchman’s price tag proved too expensive in the end and Arsenal decided to sign Partey instead on deadline day.
Wright believes Aouar will improve Arsenal
Arsenal fans want their club to make another move for Aouar in the January transfer window and Wright feels the Lyon man would make his former side even better.
He told Premier League Productions on Optus Sport, as quoted by The Express: “It is (important) because it’s something that’s continually labelled towards Arsenal – that they can’t beat the big-six teams.
“I think that was something a little while back now (but) not since (Arteta) has been there.

“I think the mentality has changed, the culture in what he’s doing has changed, the intensity and the way he wants to play. It has all changed. It’s a new Arsenal in what they’re trying to do.
“If (Partey) can continue to improve, like players improve with (Arteta’s) coaching, and then he’s able to add to that with Aouar, who they’re trying to get in the midfield alongside Partey, then you’ve got someone who can create for the forwards.”
A creator behind Arsenal’s attackers is arguably the one thing Arteta is missing in his squad at the moment.
Aouar would certainly fill that void – but it will take a lot of money to lure him from Lyon in January.
