Tottenham Hotspur are currently in second place in the Premier League table.
Ian Wright has told BT Sport’s Premier League Show, which was broadcast on 27th February, that Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino should not be coming under any pressure.
Pochettino received criticism from some quarters after Spurs’ Europa League exit, and there have been suggestions that he needs to win a trophy.
The Argentine boss has already admitted that the next job for him at Spurs is to add some silverware to their trophy cabinet.
And Wright insists that he has no doubt that Tottenham will win a trophy in the very near future.
“Why’s that [Spurs have to win a trophy]? Is it just trying to heap pressure on Mauricio Pochettino? I know that in the next few years, Tottenham will get a trophy because of the way the manager is and the way the players are,” Wright insisted.
Tottenham’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season appear to have gone now.
Spurs are still in the top four, but they are a considerable distance behind league leaders Chelsea.
Tottenham also disappointingly went out of the Europa League, after failing to beat Gent over two legs.
Spurs’ last remaining hope of winning a trophy this season comes in the FA Cup, with Pochettino’s side set to take on Millwall in the quarter final.
