West Ham United are currently just five points above the relegation zone.
Ian Wright has told Match of the Day, which was broadcast on BBC One on 5th April, that West Ham United’s board are at fault for their struggles this season.
West Ham have badly disappointed this season, and Slaven Bilic’s position as manager has come under pressure recently.
West Ham have lost their last five matches to get dragged into a relegation battle.
The Hammers are just five points above the drop zone, as things stand, and lost 3-0 to Arsenal in their most recent outing.
West Ham’s performance at the Emirates Stadium was very concerning, but Wright insists that the London side should stick by Bilic.
Wright claims that the Croatian boss simply hasn’t been given the funds required to improve his team, and it isn’t his fault that West Ham have struggled this term.
“I do feel for Slaven. I’ve got a lot of time for him,” the Arsenal legend said.
“The board have come out and said they’re going to back him – but you just hope it’s not lip service.
“Are they going to give him the money to buy the kind of players to get West Ham going, because I don’t think they’ve done that up until this point. That’s what he needs!”
West Ham’s next match comes against Swansea City at the weekend, and a loss would be disastrous.
Swansea are currently in 18th place in the Premier League table, and could move just two points behind West Ham, if they are able to win at the London Stadium.
