Wolverhampton Wanderers are now in the driving seat to finish seventh in the Premier League.
Ian Wright has spoken in awe of Wolves ‘unbelievable’ duo Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota after they helped their side beat Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.
In a repeat of the FA Cup semi-final, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side recorded a valuable three points against Watford, who are chasing European football alongside the Midlands outfit.
But with two games of the season remaining, it seems as though Wolves have won the race for seventh spot because they are four points ahead of both Everton and their weekend opponents.
Speaking to Match of the Day on BBC One (27/04/2019 at 11:45 pm), former Arsenal striker, Wright spoke highly about the partnership between Nuno’s front two.
“Jiminez has got all the plaudits and rightly so, but Jota in around him, he’s the one who can get into positions and create,” Wright told MOTD.
“Five assists he has had for Jiminez. That’s why he loves him so much. He can get himself in the box and get goals. He’s got nine Premier League goals himself this season.
“When you look where the midfield is that’s what they do away from home Wolves. They leave them to get on with it them two and they have made an unbelievable job of it.”
Jota has been at Wolves since their promotion from the Championship last season and was a key part in them winning the title in fine fashion in Nuno’s first season in charge at Molineux.
As for Jiminez, he arrived at the club last summer and he has arguably been Wolves’ best performer this term as they search for a top-seven finish.
There is still a chance that Nuno’s side can lose their European spot, but a home tie against already-relegated Fulham next Saturday could see them seal that spot.
