The Arsenal legend still wants to see a world-class striker at the Emirates.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has joked to BT Sport that the club should buy Sergio Aguero from Manchester City to win the Premier League title.

The Gunners continued their fine form on Saturday afternoon as they ran out 4-1 winners against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

The result left them joint-top of the Premier League table alongside Liverpool and Manchester City.

Their success was built on the performance of their forwards, with Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud both grabbing two goals each in the victory.

Many still believe they need a world-class striker if they are to be genuine title contenders and Wright has joked they should go for Sergio Aguero.

“What I would like to happen is that Pep continues to mess around with Aguero, Arsenal buy him and then we just win the league off the back of that, simple as that,” he joked to BT Sport.

While a move for Aguero is extremely unlikely at any point in the future, it will certainly be interesting to see if Arsenal target another striker in the coming months.

They have stumbled onto something of a solution by playing Sanchez as the central striker, with the Chilean bagging eight goals in all competitions so far.

That has already seen them to the top of the Premier League and the top of their Champions League group and should he continue in a similar vein for the rest of the season, a new striker will no longer be top of Arsenal’s wish list.
