Ian Wright and Joe Cole were in absolute awe of Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane after he helped England beat Montenegro 5-1 on Monday night.

Gareth Southgate’s side scored ten goals during their two Euro 2020 qualifiers by dispatching Czech Republic on home soil before seeing off Montenegro despite being a goal down.

Striker Kane netted in both of those encounters and led the line beautifully for the Three Lions, with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ross Barkley being some of the standout performers.

Speaking during ITV Sports coverage of England’s Euro 2020 qualifier, (25/03/2019 at 9:40 pm), former Premier League duo, Wright and Cole praised Kane’s abilities and what he means to his country.

“You know he is going to score,” Wright told ITV. “That’s what is so great about him. Opposition like this or even sterner opposition. Harry Kane is going to be dangerous for us. I like the role he is playing for us, at the minute.

Cole said: “He will enjoy this system more than anyone because he can play that focal point. Play within the sticks and in the box of the goal. Let your Hudson-Odoi’s, Sterling, Rashford’s or whoever plays either side of him to [do their stuff]. He’s got great support from Alli, Barkley and Henderson when he plays.

“He’s going to love this! And rightly so. You’ve got probably the best number nine in the world playing for England, you need to build your team around him. If we are going to win something, Harry Kane is going to be scoring goals.”

England have gone from strength to strength since the start of the World Cup in Russia last summer when they reached the semi-finals.

Southgate has continually selected youngsters, even those who have hardly played Premier League football, i.e winger Hudson-Odoi, who produced an excellent display on Monday night.

Either way, captain Kane will be the man up front who will be looking to provide the goals for his country as he is no doubt the best number nine in the world right now.

Kane’s attention will turn to club matters at the weekend because he will now focus on helping Tottenham secure a top-four finish and progress further in the Champions League.
