Ian Wright says Arsenal may not be able to attract top players in the summer.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes that top footballers would rather want to join Tottenham than their north London rival team.

Wright was analysing Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham on BBC Match of the day when he made some remarks on the Gunners’ tough situation. The defeat leaves Arsenal’s hopes of finishing in the top four hanging by a thread.

With increased broadcasting TV revenues giving Premier League clubs an edge in the transfer market, now clubs can conclude high profile transfers without Champions League football to worry about.

However, Wright says that top players would want to join Spurs at the moment, because they are a team in the ascendency.

“Right now you’re gonna sign for Spurs,” Wright said on Match of the Day 2.

“The problem Arsenal have is the longer they don’t sort out what’s going on upstairs we are no longer going to be able to attract that player because he is going to go to another club,” he added.

Tottenham’s victory over Arsenal was also historic as it was the last north London derby to be played at White Hart Lane.

The win was Tottenham’s ninth in a row, and also ensured they finish above the Gunners for the first time in 22 years.

Arsenal can still end the season on a high. The Gunners still have an FA Cup final with Chelsea to look forward to at the end of the season.
