Ian Wright has tweeted after featuring in Leeds United’s new kit release promo.
Wright, the former Arsenal and England striker, is one of a number of famous faces involved in the 57-second video – revealed by Leeds and Adidas earlier on Wednesday – alongside the actor Ralph Ineson, the musician Noel Gallagher and the ex-Whites defender Lucas Radebe.
In it, he declares: “The big leagues aren’t ready for Leeds, man. They aren’t ready for Leeds, man.”
And he repeated the claim to his followers shortly after.
Wright, who is not from Leeds and has no playing or coaching affiliation to the Whites, spent part of last season with a close eye on events at Elland Road.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side had taken Eddie Nketiah, the striker with whom Wright shares a close relationship, on loan from Arsenal.
And even though Nketiah’s deal was cut short six months early due to a lack of game time, it does not appear to have altered the 56-year-old’s thoughts about the club.
Leeds, who reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2001, have spent the past 16 years playing outside of England’s top divison.
