Ian Wright has appeared to mock Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane on Twitter following their win at Aston Villa on Sunday night.
Spurs secured a 2-0 win away to Dean Smith’s side after goals from Carlos Vinicius and a second-half penalty from Kane.
But it was a controversial decision to award Tottenham the penalty.
Aston Villa’s Matty Cash upended the Lilywhites marksman inside the box but it looked a soft decision after Kane had lost control of the ball.
The 27-year-old seemed to make the most of the challenge nonetheless and Mike Dean pointed to the spot.
A number of weeks ago, Wright and his fellow Match of the Day colleagues mocked Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette by mimicing his screams after being tackled in trying to win a penalty for the Gunners.
And here’s how Wright reacted to Kane’s effort last night:
Penalty or not, it was very intelligent centre-forward play by a very intelligent player and it helped Tottenham bring the three points back to North London.
Nobody affiliated with Spurs will particularly care if it’s a dubious penalty.
After being knocked out of the Europa League in midweek, this was a massive game for Jose Mourinho’s side to keep their hopes alive of finishing in the top four.
Tottenham are now sixth in the Premier League table and three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
