David Moyes’s West Ham United are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
The former Arsenal and West Ham striker believes that some of the signings that the Hammers have made in recent times have not been great.
Wright has also advised the Hammers fans to protest against the club’s owners constructively.
West Ham’s Premier League game against Burnley at the London Stadium last weekend was marred by fan violence.
There were West Ham supporters on the pitch, with fans directing their frustration and anger towards the club’s co-chairmen Gold and Sullivan.
Wright wrote in The Sun regarding the investment made in the squad: “But while I will never condone running on, equally I will never dispute the supporters’ right to protest. And those Hammers fans have had more reason than most.
“That’s why the club’s owners have got to take a long look at themselves, too. Take a long look at how it has come to this. And a long look at whether they have been true to their word.”
The former England international added about the fans: “West Ham have always had a very emotionally-charged support and I’m hugely sympathetic of what they are going through.
“They may not have taken me totally to their hearts when I was there but they were good to me — and they are as passionate as you will find. But my message would be: protest by all means but you have to do it constructively.”
Relegation worries
West Ham are in genuine danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
David Moyes’s side are only three points above the Premier League zone at the moment.
The Hammers are back in action later this month when they take on Southampton at the London Stadium in the Premier League.
It is imperative that West Ham pick up maximum points against the Saints at home.
