Ian Wright has a theory over why Tottenham star Dele Alli has changed his agent

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has revealed his theory as to why Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli has changed agents.

All the talk of late has been about Tottenham’s poor form and that of star midfielder Dele Alli.

Spurs’s poor form has been blamed on a host of factors from Wembley to Mauricio Pochettino’s book and complacency while long running speculation over Alli’s change of agents has been cited as a reason for his dip in performance level.

The England star put pen to paper to sign for the same agency that represents Cristiano Ronaldo, Jose Mourinho and Tottenham team-mate Harry Kane on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old has joined CAA Sports, which is run by Jorge Mendes and whose clients also include Carlo Ancelotti, James Rodriguez and Nico Rosberg.

CAA will represent Alli for future commercial and sponsorship deals, but the Tottenham midfielder remains under contract with current agent, Rob Segal, who represents him as a professional footballer.

But Gunners legend Ian Wright told Sky Sports’ The Debate his theory as to why Alli has signed up with CAA.

“When you’re going for the super, super agents what happens is, the super, super agents they’re not there to re-negotiate contracts to make money,” Wright said on The Debate.

“They’re there to take you to the big places, the massive clubs, that is why you get them agents because they move you, they get you to those clubs.”

Spurs fans have been frustrated by Alli’s form but like Pochettino they appreciate he is still young and learning the game at the top level.

However they will be hoping Wright’s insight does not materialise anytime soon with the club having already lost Kyle Walker to rivals Man City and with speculation over Danny Rose’s future also rife.
