Sam Allardyce got off to a winning start at Everton with a 2-0 victory at Goodison Park against Huddersfield Town.

BT Sport pundit Ian Wright looks on prior to the Emirates FA Cup Semi-Final match between Arsenal and Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on April 23, 2017 in London, England.

Ian Wright has told Match of the Day, which was broadcast on 2nd December on BBC One, that he believes Sam Allardyce will completely transform Ashley Williams at Everton.

Williams has come under fierce criticism so far this season, with the experienced defender putting in a number of terrible performances.

Everton have leaked goals throughout the campaign, but they picked up a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town in Allardyce’s first game in charge.

Everton have now kept two clean sheets in succession, and Williams’ performance against Huddersfield was solid.

Wright believes Williams’ display was a sign of things to come, as he backs Allardyce to get the very best out of the former Swansea City man.

“They were a lot more organised about their closing down. Lennon today played brilliant, not only offensively but defensively,” Wright said.

“Ashley Williams, for me, is playing very well under Sam. Sam will get him going.”

Everton’s win has, rather remarkably, moved them into the top half of the Premier League table.

Much has been made of Everton being in crisis this campaign, but two wins in a row has made things look a lot rosier at Goodison Park.

Allardyce’s next match in charge comes in the Europa League on Thursday night, when the Toffees take on Apollon Limassol in Cyprus.
