Pundit Ian Wright has praised Manor Solomon having been impressed with the Tottenham Hotspur winger against Burnley on Saturday.
Manor Solomon caught the eye of Ian Wright as he helped Tottenham Hotspur hammer Burnley over the weekend.
Wright was speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty Show for Premier League Productions (04/09).
Wright had been waxing lyrical about Tottenham forward Son Heung-min as he ran Burnley ragged with a superb hat-trick.
The attention then turned to Solomon with the Israeli laying on two assists in Tottenham’s 5-2 thumping of the Clarets.
Pundits Wright and Owen Hargreaves were both very impressed with Solomon as he dazzled in his first league start for Spurs.
“Solomon looked good didn’t he?” said Hargreaves.
“Very good, very good,” said Wright.
Manor Solomon performance came at the perfect time
Richarlison wasn’t considered ready to start this game and was left on the bench, meaning Son Heung-min moved up front.
Ange Postecoglou decided to start Solomon down the left flank and the move went perfectly for Tottenham.
Solomon was a constant threat and his two assists were a perfect indication of the kind of end product he can provide.
Solomon’s performance came less than 24 hours after Tottenham secured the signing of Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson.
The Welshman gives Postecoglou another option on the flanks and Solomon really had to lay down a marker with his first Premier League start for Tottenham.
Solomon certainly did that and has given Postecoglou plenty to think about once Richarlison is fully fit and Johnson is up to speed.
Tottenham still haven’t agreed Solomon terms
Tottenham signed Solomon to a five-year deal earlier this summer and it was initially reported as a free transfer.
Solomon was able to suspend his contract at Shakhtar Donetsk due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and his contract was due to expire in December anyway.
However, Tottenham have been in discussions to give Shakhtar the compensation they are still demanding, according to The Athletic.
Shakhtar want around €6.5million (£5.6million) for Solomon and Tottenham have only offered a sell-on clause if they sell Solomon down the line.
No matter where Tottenham and Shakhtar land between their valuations, Solomon looks like being a bargain in the current market.
Those reports came a month ago and there has been no announcement of an agreement in place, so Tottenham still need to thrash that situation out unless a deal has been quietly struck.
