Ian Wright felt Tottenham Hotspur were simply unlucky against Leicester City last night.

BT Sport pundit Ian Wright looks on prior to the Emirates FA Cup Semi-Final match between Arsenal and Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on April 23, 2017 in London, England.

Ian Wright has defended Tottenham Hotspur’s performance against Leicester City on Match of the Day, which was broadcast on BBC One on 29th November.

Tottenham were beaten 2-1 by Leicester, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been ridiculed for their poor form.

Spurs are currently in seventh place in the Premier League table, and have failed to beat West Bromwich Albion and Leicester in their last two fixtures.

Arsenal fans have generally taken great pleasure in Tottenham’s struggles, but Wright has taken a contrasting view.

The former Gunners striker feels that Spurs were simply unlucky against Leicester, and too much is being made of their current slump.

“You’re talking about Spurs losing 2-1, but they have had three 100% chances,” Wright said. “What I’m saying is they were top chances.”

Tottenham were certainly guilty of missing some great opportunities during the contest, with Moussa Sissoko, Christian Eriksen and Fernando Llorente all wasteful in front in goal.

However, Spurs are yet to truly hit top great in domestic matches so far this season, with their better form coming in the Champions League.

Tottenham are next in action against Watford at Vicarage Road at the weekend.
