Tottenham Hotspur were beaten by Chelsea in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
Ian Wright has seemingly suggested that ‘people want’ Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane to get into trouble as he was referring to his alleged headbutt on Cesar Azpilicueta during his side’s 2-0 defeat at Chelsea.
Striker Kane was involved in a number of incidents, including his coming together with Azpilicueta and his constant battles with defender David Luiz.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side produced a poor display at Stamford Bridge as they lost back-to-back away matches ahead of their home clash against bitter rivals Arsenal.
Speaking to Match of the Day on BBC One (27/022019 at 11:20 pm), Wright made a huge claim about Kane as he defended his actions at in the hotly-contested London derby.
“People are talking about that there [attempted headbutt on Azpilicueta],” Wright told MOTD. “It doesn’t seem conclusive enough to me. But people are saying it’s the intention, but I can’t see what the problem was.
“Maybe the fact that it is Harry Kane, people will want that to happen. There was [a constant battle with David Luiz]. Luiz has kicked at him, he’s pushed him back, we know what this game is about, Tottenham and Chelsea now.”
It was a game to forget for Pochettino’s side, who produced a lacklustre display, just like they did during their away defeat at Burnley over the weekend.
Former Barcelona attacker Pedro opened the scoring in the second half when his shot went through the legs of opposition keeper Hugo Lloris.
Then, Kieran Trippier was involved in a moment to forget when he ended passing the ball into the back of his own net after failing to communicate with Lloris.
The result leaves Pochettino and his team looking over their shoulders because, at this moment in time, they are four points ahead of fourth-placed Arsenal ahead of the north London derby at the weekend.
