Arsenal legend Ian Wright said on the BBC Radio 5 live 606 show on Sunday evening (May 7, 2017) that Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor’s refusal to play against Wigan Athletic at the weekend was a sackable offence.

Leeds manager Garry Monk told BBC Sport that Taylor has refused to play in the Whites’ final Championship game of the season against Wigan at the DW Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Former Arsenal striker Wright has criticised the 23-year-old left-back, and believes that his refusal to play for the West Yorkshire outfit was a sackable offence.

“For me, I don’t care what anyone says, that should be instantly like a sackable offence,” said Wright about Taylor on the BBC Radio 5 live 606 show on Sunday evening (May 7, 2017).

“They should be able to sack him, but the problem is that he will just probably go to another club, and another club will probably take him.

“But if I am a Leeds fans, I don’t want a player like that in my team. Whatever the excuse is, you don’t refuse to play.”

Taylor played relatively well for Leeds this season and is one of the best left-backs in the Championship.

The Englishman does look set to leave Elland Road, as his current contract with the Whites runs out in the summer.

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis recently told The Birmingham Mail that he is interested in signing Taylor in the summer transfer window.
