Spurs take on Arsenal in the North London derby this weekend.
England’s Harry Kane
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has been commenting on the upcoming North London derby, and the dilemma Mauricio Pochettino has with his striking situation.
Spurs welcome back Harry Kane to the squad for the game after he returned to training this week. The England international striker has been out injured since suffering an ankle injury against Sunderland in September.
In his absence Spurs have struggled for goals and Dutch striker Vincent Janssen has not adapted quick enough to Premier League football enough to find the net regularly.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane during training
Kane’s presence will therefore be wanted against Arsenal and, considering his fitness situation, this throws up a dilemma for Spurs, or so believes Wright.
He told The Sun this weekend:
“And because Vincent Janssen hasn’t been scoring for Tottenham, it doesn’t give Harry Kane the time to stay on the sidelines and get himself right.
“The pressure will be on Kane when he comes back because the team need to start scoring goals.”
The former Arsenal striker is clearly hopeful that this dilemma sees Tottenham fail to get the balance right in this game.
Arsenal go into the game in good form whilst Spurs are in need of a win after a recent rut.
Kane will be chomping at the bit to get back in action and Arsenal fans will dread seeing him in the starting XI – considering his recent good form against the Gunners.
It will be interesting to see how Spurs line up this weekend.
