Ian Wright comments on Harry Winks’ performance for England

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has praised Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks made an impressive start to his England career in the World Cup qualifier clash against Lithuania.

England won the match 1-0, with Winks’ club teammate Harry Kane scoring the winner.

The 21-year-old was handed his debut by the England manager, Gareth Southgate, at the LFF Stadium alongside Jordan Henderson at the middle of the park.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright is impressed with Winks’ performance as he showed a positive attitude by passing forward on a more regular basis.

Wright said that he is “pleased” with the performance from Winks, especially his attitude of playing more forward passes.

Winks had two shots, and made three key passes during the match. He made 98 passes during the game, with a brilliant 95.9% passing accuracy, according to whoscored.com.

The Spurs midfielder has attempted nine long balls during the game, and guess what all of them were accurate. That shows how good he has been with his distributions.

Winks also made two tackles, and an interception as well.

“I’m really proud,” Wright said on ITV, as quoted by The Express.

“I’m pleased for Harry Winks and people will say ‘it’s the opposition and he’s got plenty of time and that’. But it’s the attitude of him, he wants to go forward with every pass.”
