Celtic’s Champions League campaign got off to a disastrous start as they were thrashed 7-0 by Barcelona.
While there is no shame in being well beaten by an all star team which regularly hands out such thrashings, it was a reality check for the Scottish champions just days after they had beaten Rangers 5-1.

Former Celtic striker Ian Wright praised Celtic’s players after the loss, telling BT Sport that they never gave up.
He said: “Barcelona have great players, they make it look easy. Don’t think Celtic’s players are not trying to get close to them. But all it takes is one pass, and once they are in there [in space] its all over.”
Celtic’s next match is at home to Manchester City, and they will hope for a dramatically different scoreline, helped by their home support.
Celtic’s Moussa Dembele has his penalty saved by Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen
Wright was critical of Celtic striker Moussa Dembele’s missed penalty, arguing that the youngster’s run up did not give him a good chance of scoring.
He said: “I thought his run up was too short, too straight, it meant it was a good height for the keeper. It is unfortunate for him.”
Dembele had scored a hat-trick against Rangers at the weekend but the match shows he has plenty to learn, and there can have been no better experience than sharing a pitch with the likes of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar, even to see them tear his team apart.
