Arsenal have reportedly bid for the in-demand French marksman.

Monaco's Kylian Mbappe-Lottin celebrates scoring their first goal

L’Equipe reported on Thursday evening that Arsenal have tabled an £87 million bid for Monaco hitman Kylian Mbappe.

The 18-year-old is one of the hottest properties in world football after netting 15 times in 17 Ligue 1 starts to help Monaco seal the title last term.

The Telegraph reported last month that the Principality club rejected a £103 million bid from Real Madrid for the talented teenager.

And Arsenal legend Ian Wright cannot see why Gunners boss Arsene Wenger would have tabled a lower offer as a result of Madrid’s failed attempt.

One thing is for certain – the North Londoners need a new striker.

Alexis Sanchez starred in a central role for Arsenal last season, netting 30 goals in all competitions – including one in the FA Cup final as Wenger’s side edged out Chelsea.

But the Chilean is heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates, with Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Lucas Perez the only alternatives.
