Alan Pardew is reportedly wanted by West Bromwich Albion.
According to The Sun, former Newcastle and West Ham boss Pardew is set to be appointed as the West Brom manager.
Wright played with Pardew at Crystal Palace, and the former Arsenal striker has backed his ex-teammate to be a success at The Hawthorns.
“He is desperate to be back in management, and I think that if he can get that West Brom job, I think that’s not a bad signing for them,” said Wright about Pardew and West Brom on The Monday Night Club show on BBC Radio 5 live on Monday evening (8:06pm, November 27, 2017). “I think that’s a really good signing for them.”
Gary Megson is in temporary charge of West Brom at the moment, and he has spoken highly of 19-year-old midfielder Sam Field.
“He’s big, he can run, he’s got a great left foot, he’s one the best two-footed players I’ve seen, he’s got a huge amount going for him,” Megson told The Birmingham Mail about Field.
“He’s got to take what he does on the training pitch and put it on the pitch and at times on Saturday he did that, but not enough.
“For a midfield player he’s got to be getting up there and scoring – because he can finish – and then getting back for the other side of it.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if he went on to have a real top-class career and hopefully he can get it going sooner rather than later.”
West Brom are struggling in the Premier League at the moment and are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
The Baggies have picked up only 11 points from 13 matches and are just a point above the relegation zone.
West Brom will take on Newcastle United at The Hawthorns in the Premier League this evening.
