Ian Wright says Tottenham Hotspur transfer target, Alexis Mac Allister, has ‘gone under the radar’ with World Cup finalists, Argentina, as he told ITV Sport.
The Brighton midfielder is having a ‘very good’ World Cup, according to the Arsenal legend, after being left out of Argentina’s opening group game defeat to Saudi Arabia.
Since then, the 23-year-old has been a key member of Lionel Scaloni’s side that reached the World Cup final on Tuesday when they breezed past Croatia.
It’s remarkable to think that Mac Allister has only played 13 matches for his nation, yet he is now one game away from writing his name into the legendary books of the South American giants.
Regardless of what happens with the versatile midfielder, his reputation has gone through the roof during this tournament, including claims that Tottenham want to sign him, as Wright spoke highly of the player.
“He’s done a very good job,” said Wright. “He’s gone under the radar with what he has done, with the way he can get into the box. The way he tracks back and does that work.”

He has a great knack for arriving late in the area and he can showcase the composure needed in front of goal.
Equally, if you want him to sit a little deeper than he can, not only make the ball talk, but his delivery from dead-ball situations are outstanding.
