Ian Wright believes Tottenham are still in the Premier League title race because of their current league position, their injured players will be returning soon and the top two aren’t running away with it.

The Reds dropped valuable points on Monday night when they were held to a 1-1 draw at West Ham [BBC Sport] – over the course of the season their near title rivals, City have lost four league matches.

On top of that, Attacking duo Harry Kane and Dele Alli are expected to return to action very soon for Spurs, which builds Wright’s argument that they are still in the hunt for the top prize.

“The thing with Tottenham is that you can’t write them off simply because of where they are,” Wright told BBC 5 Live Sport on 04/02/2019. “It’s a magnificent achievement to be where they are.

“You have to say if they can stay where they are and try to keep themselves going with the boys they have then you get Harry Kane back, Dele Alli back and they get going [again].

“We are seeing teams lose. We are seeing City lose. We haven’t seen Liverpool lose too frequently. But why not Tottenham? If they get their guys back, it’s a big ask, a massive ask.”

As reported by the Independent a few days ago, striker Kane could be heading for an early return from his ankle injury after posting a video on social media of him taking part in some warm-weather training.

Added with that, Spurs are also hopeful that attacking midfielder Alli could make a return before March, as reported by the Daily Mail.

In their absence, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been knocked out of two cup competitions, but they have still picked up valuable points in the league.

At the weekend, they will welcome Claude Puel’s Leicester City to Wembley before hosting German giants Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
