Ian Wright could not help but find it absolutely hilarious when Aston Villa’s players gave away Jack Grealish’s absence by taking him out of their fantasy football team, as per his comments on Wrighty’s House.

Grealish was not available to play for Villa against Leicester City at the weekend, and Dean Smith initially wanted to keep the news quiet.

However, murmurings began that Grealish could be out in the build up to the game.

Social media was awash with rumours that Villa’s captain wouldn’t make it.

It transpires that the source of the leak was because Villa’s squad had taken Grealish out of their fantasy football teams, which some eagle-eyed players noted.

And Wright couldn’t help but laugh at the events in the build up to the game.

“I found it absolutely hilarious,” Wright admitted.

“You think to yourself, how the players can be so naive to do something like that.

“Even if you’re going to do a fantasy football league, why are you using your own name? You’re playing against people in the club, and then you lose a player like Jack Grealish and you take him out, so people can see that!

“Dean Smith is right, he’s banned it. And he’s right because knowing that someone like Grealish is not playing is great news for Leicester.”

Smith is less likely to have found the funny side of the incident.

Villa lost 2-1 to Leicester at the weekend, with his side struggling without their talismanic leader.
