Ian Wright has suggested to SuperSport, during their live Premier League coverage, that he believes Thomas Partey’s arrival at Arsenal will have an impact on Grant Xhaka and Dani Ceballos.
Arsenal fans caught their first glimpse of a midfield trio formulating of Xhaka, Partey and Ceballos last night, but they didn’t get off to the most promising start together.
Arsenal were beaten 1-0 by Leicester City, and they struggled to create too many openings throughout the game.
Wright feels that Partey will turn out to be an excellent signing for Arsenal in time though, and he thinks Ceballos may benefit, as the Spaniard will now have some more attacking licence.
“Partey is exactly what Arsenal are looking for – he can bring the ball forward,” Wright said.
“It’ll mean Xhaka sitting a bit more and Ceballos pushing further forward, because they still need to create. It’s an exciting team on paper.”
Partey has now started twice for Arsenal, and it is fair to say he had a bigger impact on debut than he did yesterday.

Partey was the star of the show against Rapid Wien in the Europa League, but was far more quiet last night.
There is still great excitement around his arrival though, and his steadying influence should benefit Arsenal in the long-term, even if he wasn’t able to help them to victory yesterday.
The Gunners’ defeat last night has left them sitting in 10th place in the Premier League table, with their next league game coming against Manchester United at the weekend.
