Ian Wright has suggested to the Wrighty’s House podcast that Jose Mourinho kept Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur.

Kane intimated over the summer that he could look to leave Spurs if they didn’t show much ambition.

However, he has now gone into this season and enjoyed one of the best spells of his career.

The Tottenham forward, who was recently described as incredible by Heung-Min Son on beIN Sports, has chipped in with 13 goals and 10 assists in 14 games so far this campaign.

And Wright claims that Mourinho’s appointment is the reason why Kane seems to be so focused on staying at Tottenham again now.

“Harry Kane is playing at Spurs. Remember Alan Shearer has won his Premier League and he made that choice [to stay at Newcastle],” Wright said.

“Kane is in that same place where if Jose Mourinho doesn’t go to Spurs, and it’s another manager of not that stature for him, then I feel that would have been a problem for him.

“But I think that he now recognises that under that manager things could very well change in respect of Spurs getting something or winning something.”

When Mourinho arrived there were initially some question marks over whether the Portuguese boss could get the best out of Kane.

But he has quickly extinguished any doubts, with Kane actually going to a new level under him.

The Spurs forward has been tasked with showing a more creative side to his game, and he has thrived in the role.

Kane’s form has helped Tottenham climb into second place in the Premier League table, and there is now a growing belief that silverware could be coming their way this season.
