Ian Wright told Premier League Productions (03/04/21 at 7:55 pm) that Alexandre Lacazette is playing ‘a lot better’ for Arsenal because of the ‘phenomenal’ Martin Odegaard.
Arsenal secured the services of Odegaard during the winter transfer window when he made a loan switch from Real Madrid.
On paper, Odegaard’s numbers since January, whether it be goals or assists, are not up with the Premier League’s best, but he has made some impact in North London.
It wasn’t evident on Saturday evening against the Premier League champions, but on the overall grand scheme of things, Odegaard is looking pretty promising.
And Wright lauded the Madrid superstar and why he’s getting the best out of someone like Lacazette.
“He has been phenomenal for us in the way that he looks after the ball,” said Wright. “The way that he links with Lacazette.
“It’s no coincidence that Lacazette is playing a lot better because he has got somebody like this around him.
“Lacazette played better when he used to have a Ramsey or Ozil. He is somebody that can link up very well.
“You look at Odegaard, where he gets the ball, starts the press and how he looks after the ball. He’s one of those players whose very efficient with the ball. He doesn’t give the ball away lightly.”

Arsenal fans will, of course, want Odegaard signed up on a permanent basis, but they may not get that wish.
There doesn’t seem to be any indication that the 22-year-old will still be donning Arsenal’s colours next season, but it will be interesting to see how hard the club pushes for his signature.
European football will have to play a big part because if Arsenal aren’t playing on Tuesday or even Thursday nights next season then it’s going to be very difficult for the club to sign the players that they want this summer.
