Ian Wright has claimed that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is speaking the truth about Manchester City’s spending and how it’s the ‘elephant in the room’.
A number of weeks ago, Klopp hit out at the state-owned clubs in the Premier League – Manchester City and Newcastle United – and how the likes of Liverpool can’t compete with their endless amounts of money, as he told Sky Sports.
Over the years, Manchester City have been the dominant force in English football, with Liverpool being the only ones able to run them close.

Whilst those at the Etihad would splash £100 million on a bench player in Jack Grealish, those on Merseyside would use that money for a first-team starter after the departure of Sadio Mane.
Either way, Klopp’s comments didn’t sit well with those at Manchester City, which were made before his side beat Pep Guardiola’s men 1-0 at Anfield.
Nonetheless, Arsenal legend Ian Wright is firmly in Klopp’s camp regarding this and how the German has done an ‘unbelievable’ job in the transfer market given what he has had to work with, as he told Premier League Productions (31/10/22 at 2:55 pm).
“I do hear him though,” said Wright. “What he is doing and what he has done, I can’t give him enough praise, for chasing down a Manchester City side that we know have bottomless pockets.
“He has done it by making unbelievable recruitment and the players have all responded. Then you get to a stage where your team is where it is now and they are right at the edge now. They are coming towards the end of it.
“Other teams can go, bang, bang, bang! I can get rid of Sterling, Jesus and Zinchenko, then I can bring in Haaland and others.
“Whereas he (Klopp), how are you going to sit back and not feel a little envious of that? I am not saying he wants that. But you can’t say that’s fair, to a certain extent because of how he has got to manipulate the market to get success.
“There are teams who don’t have to do that. They just go, bam! So, why wouldn’t you sit there and say something like that? Whether people think it’s spicy or not, so I would do the same because I want to win as well. I have no problem with him doing that. It’s there for everyone to see, it’s the elephant in the room.”

WILL FSG BACK KLOPP?
It’s not Liverpool who are pushing Manchester City for the Premier League title this season, but Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, who have an incredible 31 points from 12 matches.
Only one team in Premier League history, on those amount of points at this stage, have failed to win the title and that was Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle United.
Whatever Arsenal do from here on in, nevermind Manchester City, those from Merseyside are now looking miles behind the north London club.
Many are calling for Klopp to be handed the backing during the January transfer window because his team seriously needed that refreshment.
