Ian Wright told Premier League Productions that Willian and Pepe ‘need to do more’ for Arsenal despite their 3-1 win at Southampton.
Pepe started the encounter for the Gunners and Highbury legend, Wright, labelled his performance as ‘fantastic’.
Arsenal’s underperforming summer signing, Willian, came on as a second-half sub and he made an instant impact as he was involved in his side’s third goal.
Despite those performances and impact last night, Wright made it clear that the previously struggling attacking duo need to add consistency to their game.
“Fortunately, for us, today Pepe was fantastic,” said Wright. “He played very, very well.
On needing to see more from Pepe: “Absolutely do. Same with Willian. He came on in that game maybe Arteta was giving him a game that we were winning, so he can get confidence.

“But they do need to do more. Emile Smith Rowe went off with cramp today. You are hoping that Saka can stay fit because if anything happens to those guys from a creative point of view then those are the guys pushing Arsenal forward, alongside Thomas Partey.
“If anything happens to them then things start to stall again – I think the Arsenal fans will agree with me, Willian has been shown a lot of faith. He’s not quite done it yet.
“Pepe, he had a brilliant game, but we need to see more of that.”

It’s all rosy in the Arenal garden, after a pretty abject first few months of the season, which saw the club hovering above the relegation zone.
But the Arsenal supporters will be well aware that there is still a long way to go.
They will, once again, start to think about those European places again, but it’s pretty jam-packed in that race over the top-six finish line.
