Ian Wright has intimated that Arsenal need a better striker than Alexandre Lacazette to arrive this summer.
The Gunners’ captain has fallen foul of the fanbase following an underwhelming performance in the 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace on Monday night.
According to WhoScored, the Arsenal hitman managed only 32 touches during what was an awful 90 minutes for Mikel Arteta’s outfit.
There has been whispers of Lacazette – who’s out of contract this summer – signing an extension and sticking around longer than this season [L’Equipe].
However, Wright, a legendary Arsenal striker himself, claims that his former club need a number nine who is ‘going to help’ the team, insinuating that the France international isn’t doing much right now.
He said on the Wrighty’s House podcast: “We’re going to have to start [looking at Lacazette]. And I think they already have someone in mind. It’s the next part of our development. We need a striker who is going to help.”

Wright, as he often is, is absolutely on the money here.
Four goals in 24 Premier League appearances is an awful return for a Premier League striker – and it’s even worse when you consider that a couple of those have been from the penalty spot.
Lacazette is by no means a poor striker, because he did find the net somewhat regularly under Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery.
But under Arteta, the former Lyon marksman, a £46 million signing in 2017, just isn’t doing the business upfront and Wright is correct; Arsenal need better.
Much better.
