Everton signed Richarlison from fellow Premier League side Watford last summer.
Ian Wright and Chris Sutton disagreed whether Everton forward Richarlison has been a ‘hit’ for the club following his move from Watford last summer.
As reported by BBC Sport, the Toffees paid £50 million for the highly-rated 21-year-old, who followed manager Marco Silva to Goodison Park after he had brought him to Vicarage Road the season before.
Nonetheless, amongst Everton’s recent problems, former Premier League striker Wright felt that Richarlison has been a ‘successful signing’ considering there were ‘eyebrows raised’ when he moved for a big-money transfer fee.
But Sutton doesn’t think the Brazillian has been a ‘hit’ on Merseyside despite being in double figures in terms of goals scored in the Premier League.
“Has Richarlison [been a success]? I think he has done okay” Sutton stated on BBC Radio 5 Live on 04/02/2019. “No, that’s a successful signing,” Wright replied.
“£40 odd million with eyebrows raised. No, no, he’s got 10 goals up to now. If it weren’t for him I don’t what will be happening,” Wright added.
“I wouldn’t say he has been a hit,” Sutton replied.
At his previous club, Richarlison, prior to Silva’s sacking, started like a house on fire, scoring five league goals in his first 12 league matches, according to transfermarkt.
But his form took an alarming dip as he failed to find the back of the net again in the league, but since his move to Goodison, he has shown improvement.
Over the course of this campaign, he has shown more consistency, netting 10 goals from his 23 league encounters, including the winning goal against Huddersfield at the end of last month, according to transfermarkt.
Now, Richarlison, who has been utilised through the middle as well as on the left-hand side during this campaign, will be preparing for his side’s home clash against Manchester City on Wednesday night.
