Ian Wright has called on a Sky Sports journalist to apologise to Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Arsenal signed the Japan international for £15.5 million this past summer.

When the transfer was set to happen, Kaveh Solhekol publicly revealed a text conversation with the player’s agent live on Sky Sports News.

In it, Solhekol claimed that the right-back’s own representatives had reservations about his best position and how they weren’t sure if he would succeed at the Emirates Stadium.

But at that price, the former Bologna defender is looking like an absolute steal by the Gunners and he posted another brilliant performance against Leeds United on Saturday.

Here’s what Wright posted on Twitter this morning:

Fairness

In the journalist’s defence, he was merely reading out a text from the Arsenal player’s agent.

However, his colleague Dharmesh Sheth was laughing in the Sky studio over how inappropriate it seemed to share details which honestly embarrass the 23-year-old.

Even though they weren’t Solhekol’s words, revealing the nature of the conversation was a tad suspect.

But Tomiyasu is the one laughing now because, as it turns out, he’s been a revelation for Arsenal.

And yes, he is most certainly a right-back.
