Aston Villa will be looking to continue their play-off march when they meet Nottingham Forest in the Championship on Wednesday night.
Ian Taylor has told Aston Villa ace Tyrone Mings on Twitter to ‘grab a win’ for his side on his birthday ahead of their clash against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.
The 26-year-old responded by saying three points at the City Ground would be ‘perfect’ for his team as they aim to push up the table in their race to finish in the top-six.
Over the weekend, Villa recorded a deserved 1-0 win over bitter rivals Birmingham City, with Jack Grealish scoring the winning goal in the second half after being attacked by a fan during the first 10 minutes of the match.
Nonetheless, ahead of Villa’s meeting with their former manager, Martin O’Neill, former Holte End favourite, Taylor sent a message to Mings on his personal Twitter account and the centre-back issued a response.
Bournemouth loanee Mings, who moved to the club during the January transfer window, has been an absolute colossus for Villa since he walked through the doors of Bodymoor Heath.
Throughout the season, Villa have struggled to find consistency, with balance, lack of depth and stability playing a big part in them struggling on a defensive front during this campaign.
But since the arrival of Mings, and Wolves loanee Kortney Hause, Dean Smith’s side have looked a lot better at the back and they will be hoping to use that base to push for a top-six finish.
At this moment in time, they are four points behind sixth-placed Bristol City in the table and a win would leave them within a point of Lee Johnson’s side with nine games of the season remaining.
